2010 SEED Awards - Call for Proposals 

 

The 2010 SEED Awards are now open. The SEED Initiative, founded by UNEP, UNDP and IUCN, and supported by the European Union, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa, the UK and the USA, identifies and supports promising small scale social and environmental entrepreneurs around the globe, entrepreneurs that while working towards a greener economy also tackle poverty, marginalisation and social exclusion.

The SEED InitiativeFor 2010, the focus is on Africa as part of a larger project funded by the European Union on the Green Economy. The first SEED country scheme will be launched in South Africa, and will offer a dedicated number of SEED Awards to specific African countries. Overall, the expansion means that SEED is able to make up to 35 awards in 2010, of which up to:
  • 10 awards will be made in South Africa;
  • 20 awards will be made in 6 target countries in Africa, namely, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal; and
  • 5 awards elsewhere.

Details about the award, how to apply, and the eligibility criteria are in the call for proposals. The deadline for applications is 16th July 2010.
